George E. Johnson '41 & Robert M. Ward '41
The George E. Johnson ’41 & Robert M. Ward ’41 Merit Scholarship Fund was established by Robert Ward in 1986 to honor the memory of his classmate and brother-in-law, George E. Johnson. Mr. Johnson received his B.S. degree in metallurgical engineering in 1941 from Case School of Applied Science. While an undergraduate, Mr. Johnson was an active member of both Sigma Nu fraternity and the Pick-And-Shovel Club. In addition, Mr. Johnson had the distinct honor of playing varsity football with the famed Rough Riders under the direction of Coach Ray Ride. Mr. Ward, a 1941 mechanical engineering graduate, was active in football, the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity and Glee Club while attending Case School of Applied Science. In addition to establishing this scholarship to honor George Johnson, Robert Ward has contributed funds to equip The Ward Lab in mechanical engineering at The Case School of Engineering.
