Harry W. Mergler 1948, MS '50, PhD '56

The Dr. Harry W. Mergler 1948, MS1950, PhD1956 Endowed Fellowship Fund was established by Mr. Deepak Bhagat MS’77 in 2021 to provide support for Masters of Science and/or Doctoral students in the department of Electrical, Computer and Systems Engineering.

Dr. Harry W. Mergler 1948, MS1950, PhD1956, graduated from the Case Institute of Technology with degrees in Mechanical Engineering. He spent more than 30 years as a member of faculty at Case Institute of Technology/Case Western Reserve University as Professor. He was named the Leonard Case Professor of Engineering. He received the Meritorious Service Award in 1975 and the Gold Medal Award in 1980 from the Case Alumni Association. During his career, Mergler founded Digital-General Corp., which designed and manufactured digital diagnostic instruments.

Deepak Bhagat, MS ‘’77 received his B.Tech. degree in Electrical Engineering in 1973 from IIT Kanpur and further went on to complete his MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Case Institute of Technology. In 1979, he started his career with Hewlett-Packard as an R&D Engineering Manager
In 1993, he joined Sun Microsystems as a Senior Director of Engineering. He spent 10 years as Vice President at SAP in the Cloud Architecture and Engineering Group. He is Co-Founder and Managing Partner of SiVa-Access.
