John J. Wirts ‘31
John J. Wirts ‘31 (d) graduated from the Case School of Applied Science with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He earned a master’s degree in 1936 also in Chemical Engineering. Upon graduation, Mr. Wirts joined the City of Cleveland and the sewage treatment plant centers. In 1937, Wirts became Superintendent of Cleveland’s Easterly Sewage Plant, a position he held until the time of his retirement in 1972. He also held several U.S. patents and was an internationally renowned environmentalist. The John J. Wirts ‘31 and Mrs. John J. (Isabel) Wirts was established in 1968.
