Nelson D. Griswold 1923
Nelson D. Griswold 1923 (d) graduated from the Case School of Applied Science with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Nelson contributed extensively to the development of the Texas division of Dow Chemical Company where he worked for almost 40 years.He held many positions including design engineer, chief engineer, general manager, and director. The Thomas G. Jr. 1896 and Nelson D. 1923 Griswold Scholarship Fund was established in 1975 by Mrs. Thomas Nelson and her family in honor of her husband and son. Thomas G. Jr. received both his B.S. degree and M.S. degree in civil engineering from Case School of Applied Science in 1896. He was the first employee with Dow Chemical Company and began his career in the engineering department, working as manager and chief engineer. Eventually, Mr. Griswold joined the patent department, was named inventor or co-inventor on 29 patents awarded to Dow, and served as manager of this department until the time of his retirement in 1936.
