The Ralph C. Schiring ‘31 Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 1971 by Mrs. Lotta Schiring, family, friends and alumni. Ralph Schiring attended Case School of Applied Science studying chemical engineering. As a college sophomore, Schiring joined Picker Corporation as a design engineer and following successive promotions, rose to the position of president. Upon consolidation of the operations under the ownership of C.I.T. Financial Corp., he was made a Picker Corp. director and corporate vice president. Under the leadership of Mr. Schiring, foreign subsidiaries were established and Picker Corporation’s most advanced products were developed, including an automatic chest x-ray machine that produces a dry film in under 2 minutes. In addition to his successful and lengthy professional career with Picker Corp., Schiring served as director of Associated Industries of Cleveland, and was an active member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, the Case Alumni Council and the Canterbury Golf Club.
