Richard W. Hoffman ‘47, MS ‘49, PhD ‘52

Richard W. Hoffman ‘47, MS ‘49, PhD ‘52 (d) received all his degrees in Physics from the Cast Institute of Technology. He was a physics professor at CIT/CWRU, from 1965 until his retirement in the early 1990s. Early in his career, Professor Hoffman developed magnetic thin films used for recording. He lectured on the physics of thin films throughout the United States and in Europe, Japan, and Israel. The Richard W. Hoffman ‘47 Memorial Fund was established in 2002 to provide undergraduate support to students majoring in Physics
